Title	Front of Customs house, Swatow
Description	Swatow Typhoon was a devastating typhoon that caused the death of thousands in the Chinese city of Swatow in August, 1922. The total of deaths make it one of the deadliest known typhoons in history. Note with photo: Custom house from the front. The photographer tells me that the Chinese (man in foreground) is regarding the body of a small infant. A junk can be seen sitting comfortably on the lawn. All the concrete and iron fences are down & the macadam road torn up. The top of the mast is gone but the rest is steel and stood. The front door was smashed in; water was six feet deep inside. The shutters were typhoon-proof but some were broken.
