Description	Swatow Typhoon was a devastating typhoon that caused the death of thousands in the Chinese city of Swatow in August, 1922. The total of deaths make it one of the deadliest known typhoons in history. Note with photo: The residential side of the river. Our house can't be seen as it was higher up to the right. After the typhoon we lived in the Custom house high up to the right with the small white outbuilding. This was well built and escaped serious damage. In the immediate foreground are warehouses. A large floating pile driver can be seen lodged against one of them. The two houses beyond were occupied and the escapes of the inhabitants were very narrow, all the houses were badly damaged. The missionary houses are in the hill in the back. The chimney was built years ago.... brought from Holland & miraculously stood.
