Description	Note that this description refers to am1_0001 and am1_0002: These photographs show the construction of barracks and buildings at Amache with prefabricated sides. Windows fit so badly that fine sand or snow would accumulate in small piles inside the room during windstorms or snowstorms. There was little insulation so rooms were uncomfortable in the hot summers and cold winters. The barracks had no water; consequently, no kitchens or bathrooms. Each barrack was 120 feet long and 20 feet wide. A barrack was divided into six sections or rooms. Each room was expected to house four to six persons. In some situations unrelated evacuees were assigned to share a room. For example, two couples without children or a group of single males. Recently married couples were particularly embarrassed by the lack of privacy under such conditions.
