Description	Amache was a "pioneering community." Although the War Relocation Authority (WRA) was in charge of the administration at Amache, the evacuees were employed as staff to perform most of the work in the various departments. These photographs show evacuees working in a variety of jobs in Amache. A total of 3,476 evacuees were employed at Amache in 25 different departments. Evacuee wages were nineteen dollars a month for professional workers such as doctors and teachers, sixteen dollars a month for skilled personnel, and twelve dollars a month for unskilled workers
